The 2018 Umani Ronchi Podere Montepulciano d'Abruzzo begins with an inviting aroma of black cherry and blackberry plus lots mint and herbal notes and a little black pepper. It's quite a nice start.
The wine tastes smooth, juicy and good. Light-bodied and easy to drink, it features good acidity and good balance. It's not big or over the top in any way, but it's still very satisfying. Similar flavors to the nose with some added licorice in the mouth lead into the dry, long, savory and grippy finish. It went great with our pizza. Yum!
