From the winery:
Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world’s great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state. An intermingling of Old and New World philosophies and techniques enables the crafting an extraordinary Riesling from Washington state grapes. Named for Beethoven’s Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration.

Today we continue our quest to find the best wines at Costco with a wine we’ve enjoyed immensely in previous vintages, so much so that it holds a spot in our current list of the Top 10 White Wines Under $20. It’s also another wine from one of our favorite spots at the moment, Washington State.
The 2013 Chateau Ste Michelle and Dr. Loosen Eroica Riesling begins with a very pleasant aroma of lime, green apple, tangerine and a bit of a chalky note. The wines tastes excellent as usual with a wonderful tart acidity offsetting the sweetness and a smooth, round mouthfeel. This one is a perfect match with spicy Asian or Indian food. It ends off-dry with a long, mouthwatering finish.
Can the Eroica Riesling find a spot in our 2015 edition of the Top 10 Whites Wine Under $20? We’ll find out next week! Be sure to subscribe to our emails to make sure you don’t miss the reveal of our 2015 list.
