A Costco Bulk Buy Cab, the Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, Australia.
Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, South Australia. The wine spends 12 months in French oak, only 5% of which was new.
The Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon has an SRP of $20 but we found it at Costco for just $13.89, which is pretty crazy considering the big scores on this wine (94 points from Wine Enthusiast and 92 points from Wine Spectator).

The 2019 Penley Estate Phoenix Cabernet Sauvignon opens with lots of complex notes on the nose - licorice, black tea, some iron like minerality, plum and blackberry plus touches of spice, anise and chocolate too.
The medium-bodied wine tastes silky and smooth and is quite good. It's definitely more on the elegant side of things for Cabernet as it has very little oak influence which really lets you appreciate the pure grape.
Dusty tannins lead into the dry, quite long and savory finish. This is good stuff!
